Carers Australia works to support Australia's unpaid carers. We advocate on your behalf, working to influence national policies that affect carers. We collaborate with other organisations, including our state and territory Carer Associations, to deliver services. We also deliver some services directly.
We influence national policies and services by:
- working with politicians
- giving policy advice to government departments, by talking to them and through submissions
- maintaining the Young Carers website
- running National Carers Week
- running awareness workshops for education providers, service providers and families.
Our services for young carers include:
The Young Carers Respite and Information Services program.
This program offers help at home, so young carers can take a break. It also provides information, referrals and advice to help young carers stay in education and training.
The Young Carer Bursary Programme.
This program provides financial support to young carers wanting to complete education or training.
The Australian National Young Carers Action Team (ANYCAT).
A national leadership program for young carers.
